MISSION

The Platform’s purpose is to give organised expression to the duty of solidarity and social justice among individuals who were victims as children and spent a long period in residential care. It sets out to guide, support and train young people and adults with experience of residential care, promoting a successful transition to independent living, favourable transitions and social inclusion.

VISION

Everyone has the right to develop their abilities and aptitudes to the full, regardless of their life story. To monitor and respond to social emergencies, placing our capital of experience, strategies and resources at the service of sustainable development and social cohesion. To create, nurture and undertake cooperative partnerships with the State, with public and private bodies and with civil society, as a healthy affirmation of participatory democracy and the exercise of citizenship.

OBJECTIVES

To support and guide young adult care leavers towards fully independent living; To (re)create life stories, serving as a “safe haven” and providing informal support; To work on the transition to independent living with young people who are still in care, reinforcing the work already done by carers and preventing situations of vulnerability in the future; To train carers, promoting good practice and improving understanding; To promote scientific research, improving knowledge, perception and awareness of residential care.
