National Meeting of Young Care Leavers

Plataforma PAJE – Support for Young Care Leavers will hold the 1st National Meeting of Young Care Leavers (I Encontro Nacional de Jovens (Ex)Acolhidos) on 3 July 2018.

This meeting is intended as a space for sharing stories and life experiences, enabling personal and social interaction between young people with similar backgrounds. It aims to be an opportunity to guide young people who have not yet found, or managed to follow, their life plan, to motivate through first-person testimonies, to allow reflection on residential care through the eyes of those who have been in care, and to present a range of pathways (successful and unsuccessful) after leaving residential care.

To that end, we will be joined by speakers with a history of residential care (with very different experiences in terms of geography, period or even the (lack of) success achieved), who will give their testimony in a setting that is intended to be open and informal.

It will be a day with a few surprises which, we hope, may contribute to reflection on the path each young person wishes to follow.

Registration is free but compulsory and should be made by email to geral@paje.pt (or by mobile phone – 913142204), stating the name of the institution and the number of people (young people and staff) who will attend.
