European Researchers’ Night

European Researchers’ Night — Noite Europeia dos Investigadores in Portuguese — is an initiative launched in 2005, currently biennial, funded by the European Commission under the Marie Curie Actions, with the aim of celebrating science and bringing researchers and citizens closer together.

This initiative, which seeks to break down the barriers that separate science from citizens and to demystify the distant image the public has of scientists, is an opportunity to showcase the work carried out by Portuguese researchers, as well as to highlight the importance of effective communication between research centres and civil society.

European Researchers’ Night takes the form of a series of activities that run throughout the year and culminate in a night of festivity and celebration of science, held in several European cities.

Since 2017, Plataforma PAJE has had a place at this event in Coimbra, taking part by presenting some materials.
