Support platform for care leavers
Aims: To place young people in care who are at the pre-independence stage in an environment and situation similar to those of independent living, seeking to raise their awareness of life after care and to test their independent living skills. This is intended to be an innovative project that allows young people over 18, at the pre-independence stage, to spend a week in a house rented by PAJE, where they will have to carry out the basic tasks of running a home and looking after themselves on their own. The aim is that, by the end of the week, the young person is able to understand how they feel about their life plan, forming ideas that are achievable rather than unrealistic.
What sets it apart: Complete separation from the physical and practical support of the residential care home, creating a simulated reality and stirring feelings and emotions that alert them and may postpone a premature, hasty and possibly irreversible decision – leaving the residential care home.
