Support platform for care leavers
A prepared and supported transition promotes well-being and individual success, whereas a transition made without support may lead to deviant behaviour. It is important to make young people aware of the challenges they will face in independent living, developing functional, psychological and social skills, and problem-solving strategies that may be useful to them in their daily lives.
With this in mind, Plataforma PAJE proposes an intervention with young people at the pre-independence stage that seeks to promote positive transitions, raise their awareness of life after care, foster self-knowledge and lessen the shock of the transition, promoting successful inclusion as an active citizen. We believe that this intervention, coming from an organisation outside the residential care home, with people other than those the young person is in contact with every day, can be an asset.
